Have you encountered the Holstee Manifesto?
Or William Ellery Channing’s “My Symphony”:
To live content with small means.
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion.
To be worthy not respectable,
and wealthy not rich.
To study hard, think quietly, talk gently,
act frankly, to listen to stars, birds, babes,
and sages with open heart, to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.
For so much of our lives, we work, play, eat, and sleep, but don’t take time to think deeply about what we want our lives to be about.
As part of my year-end reflection, I’ve written a personal 2024 Manifesto, to encapsulate what I want my life to be in the year ahead:
How about you? If you’ve never written a personal manifesto, I would encourage you to write one, it helped me sharpen my thinking about what I truly value and want my life to be about this year.
Until next time,
Dave
